While there is certainly nothing wrong with attempting to increase our flexibility, It may not be the most appropriate use of someone's exercise- related time for every person at all times. If we increase our range of motion or naturally have large range of motion but don't have the necessary coordination or strength to control us through this range we may be putting stress on the joints and predisposing us to injury. There are also medical conditions related to hypermobility in which stretching is likely to be harmful. We talked about in a previous clip how strength training through full range maybe even more effective than stretching for flexibility and even if we're using stretching as our primary flexibility intervention it is still important that we are performing strength training through range.
